48 hours from now I should have the camper packed and hooked to the F350 to head north to my WY elk hunt. I could leave earlier but making myself wait and spend time with family before leaving them for potentially 2 weeks straight. Hope to get set up in camp early enough to check my creek crossing cam and climb up into the tree stand for an evening hunt Sunday. I will be posting updates here semi live via Starlink and potentially right from my stand if the intermittent signal that I get there allows.

Best of luck to everyone. Maybe this is my year.....we shall see. Either way it will be epic for me personally. Maybe the bull in the picture will give me a chance.

Chiefs did not lose their opener this year....so that is a good omen. Go MIZ ZOU Tigers who won their opener handily in a shutout.....looking forward to more challenging games as the season progresses.

My MO buddies headed home this AM from the Flattops with a few encounters but no dead elk.

What general part of the state will you be in? If you need anything around the Lander Area, just look me up. Broke down vehicle, water refill, a hot meal etc. We will be hunting weekends and hoping... Good luck.

Best of luck to you! We leave for Idaho tomorrow. I can't help but feel I am missing out by not being there already.. Usually get there labor day... calendar is different this year and the next two weeks seemed on paper the right thing to do... Watch out elk cuz I will slowly be climbing up after you! ha! Hope you arrow a good one Jordan!

Good luck! If you want it to be your year to kill an elk then don’t have your heart set on a bull only. Just get one under your belt and worry about a bull another time. If the first one you get a chance at is a bull then that’s great! I shot the first elk that came into the spring I was sitting opening morning. Cutting her up tomorrow morning.

Nothing wrong with killing a cow elk, especially if you’ve not killed an elk before. My first three were cows. I’m on pins and needles now, leaving for a long two day drive to New Mexico at 0530 tomorrow.

I am not stuck on a bull over a cow....but I gave myself 2 weeks so I am going to take my time and pick the right shot.

Leaving Sunday to help my son with his first Wyoming resident general tag. Gave up my Montana tag to do it. Way more excited than if I had the tag.

Good luck to everyone.

You’ve got this. You’ve got the positive attitude and have put in the time the last few years. I’ve enjoyed your reports and this year I can’t wait to see a picture of you and your bull.

You got this! It’s your year Jordan. We’re in co now. Few hours away from getting on a mountain. Not coming out until the 19th or three dead elk. I plan on reading about your first elk when we get service again.

I killed a cow 3 years ago today on a DIY OTC elk hunt in Colorado. Awesome experience and lots of great meat! Best of luck on your hunt Jordan. Shoot whatever feels right!!

The 5'er is hitched to the F350 and loaded with gear......all that is left is to load block ice into coolers and load the cold stuff that is in my garage fridge (which is just a normal house fridge LOL Lou) and point it all north tomorrow afternoon. Thanks for all the well wishes. I need 'em.

Hell....it COULD all be over by sundown tomorrow night....you never know. 22 hours or less to go time.
