"Velvet Mule Deer Buck from Colorado Could Be a New Archery World Record, but Questions Around the Hunt Remain"

Kudos to him for telling folks he wants to be discreet whenever he could be whoring himself out on a podcast tour for self-promotion at the moment. The whole “drew back my Mathews lift bow and let my beast broadhead fly” sounded a little commercially though. Good deer regardless.
Article seems to take a guilty until pointed innocent look with the whole “Could be a new world record, BUT questions about the hunt remain”. Maybe that isn’t how they intended it, but it sure seems that way. Whatever gets clicks, I guess.
Beast broadheads is owned by the Bowmars. If they created this press release, only God knows how honest it is. Are they using gross green score????? I guess time will tell....
Nice deer. Congrats to the hunter. After reading that article I don’t get the feeling he wants to be discreet. Sounds more like keeping all the valuable assets guarded until time to sell them. Isn’t beast broadheads Bomar? If so there will certainly be whoring!
Heck of a deer. I skimmed v read with detail, but I dont get the legal uncertainty. Sounded like he had permission, it was legal season, and he shot the deer. Am I not understanding something? Or was the uncertainty more oriented at it being very green v a "real" score?
Congrats on a great deer. And I would bet a paycheck he will be advertising everything he used on this hunt. It’s already started with his Mathews bow and BH. If that makes him money and helps his family good for him. No reason not to cash in on a once in a lifetime opportunity.
Just has to be dried, measured and entered. Too bad Bowmars are involved if they are.
Nice buck and seems like the guy is a pretty hardcore hunter. The following being the only question related in the article doesn’t exactly translate into the headline:
“At this point, however, the status of Craft’s potentially record-breaking buck is in limbo. P&Y Director of Records Tim Rozewski tells Outdoor Life that he doesn’t know anything about the muley buck, and that he’ll remain skeptical of any measurements until after the 60-day drying period ends. “
Helluva buck, too bad that used a fish eye lens so can't get a feel for how big it really is.
Fantastic deer. BUT I would wager that is a gross typical score based on the splits. And the fact Bowmar’s are publishing the score. Time will tell.
Giant for sure. The headline makes it sound like the hunter himself is shady. I read it - sounds like the world record claim is what they are talking about and not the hunt itself. I figured poached when I read the headline.
It’s a long road to a verified world record….hope we get the opportunity to find out where it stands.
Good to see big Muley Bucks still around! Congrats to the Hunter for getting it done.
I don’t care for the Social Media persona of the Bowmars…. But it’s capitalism and many people want the insta-fame and popularity and associate with them.
Too bad the nature of the Beast (both Bowmar and Social Maria in general) has often come with sometimes illegal, and definitely unethical behaviors to get attention.
Lee - that was my vibe from the title as well...
