Has anyone used the Leupold RX-1400i TBR/W Gen2 Laser Rangefinder? I'm looking for one under $250 because he very well could lose it being 14yrs old. I see alot of people recommend sig these days but they tend to be more expensive. Angle compensating is a must & waterproof would be nice but i don't think this model is waterproof. Its on sale at scheels for $150 now. What do you recommend?

I bought myself and my father in law one at TAC. I upgraded an older(but higher end)Nikon that had black readout digits.
It reads the exact same yardage as my Nikon and I really like the adjustable red read out. I have only used it at home practicing and at 3-d shoots. I will be using it hunting this season. So far I have no complaints.
It is waterproof and has rain/fog(last target) mode. My opinion is this is a great range finder that gives you a lot of features for a good price.

I'd get it. Especially for a kid, who will likely lose it (as you said), it's a no-brainer to me! I had an older version of that rangefinder and it worked seamlessly for a long time.
