the article said he fell from 30 feet. hard to believe someone would climb that high to hunt. might be something there i don't know about....? i climb ladders and get on residential roofs nearly every day. the older i get the more concerned i am about falling. no way i would climb 30 feet up a tree to hunt. no freak'in way. 12-15 feet is plenty high.

Did his harness fail? That is scary.

He said it was a ladder stand but he fell down hill. So assuming a percentage of fall was the height of the ladder stand and percentage of fall was the down hill part from base of tree. Never heard of 30 foot tall ladder stand.

what i read is the following:
“Wear a lineman belt when you’re putting up your sticks, and you won’t be taking helicopter rides and sitting in an emergency room. It’s all about safety.”
i took that to mean he had multiple sections of climbing sticks to reach that height. anyway, he fell too far whether it was 10 feet or 100 feet.
glad he will be OK. we read about these every year.

Who gives a rip if he said something about the hunter safety system?! Just be glad another hunter didn’t get seriously injured or die.

Lewis, in my experience, it happens in a blink of an eye. And, its the actual hitting the ground part that starts to draw reality out longer.
I’m glad he’s ok. Seems like a good fella for sure.

I'm glad he's gonna be ok. I've hunted on the ground probably 90% of the time but this year I'm going to hunt from a treestand. I agree with his statement about wearing a lineman's belt. I plan on using one for sure. I want to hunt from a treestand some before I get too old to.

I was out practicing with my XOP stand and sticks. I was reminded of why I've mostly hunted on the ground. Sure is a lot of crap to get up a tree...unless they are preset. A climber is a whole lot simpler. Looking at the sharp steps on the sticks, you could get hurt by those steps. Lot of people use them I know but I'm not sure about a hang on for run n gun. I'm glad Mr Parker didn't get hurt any worse than he did.

I'm not much of a Fishing TV Show guy, but I always liked to watch his fishing show.
I hope he heals up well as we get older it takes longer to heal dang it.
Good luck, Robb
