might have knocked him out for a moment. Wonder what distance and where was the aim point.

Bet that guy wishes he had had the accuracy/forgiveness of a mechanical bahahahahaha

Looks like he might have been counting points instead of concentrating on shot placement.

That looks like a Rocky Mtn. broadhead. I still shoot them. Replacement blades are still available for them.

At first I thought maybe this tread belonged over on the nontypical forum !!!
But in all seriousness, the buck may have just swung its' head to chase a fly or lick its side at the exact moment. You know that whole thing about targets don't move but animals do

The aim point was the antler. At least that’s where the bow was aiming at had time he released. Either that or a mid flight deflection

I’m amazed that there was that much penetration and yet it somehow didn’t shatter the mainbeam.

Grant took the words right out of my mouth. It's not an uncommon thing for arrows to go whizzing by antlers. Bullets and arrows go exactly where the weapon is pointed, which typically corresponds to where the shooter was looking, and thus aiming.

Back when arrow weight was typically higher. Big fat Aluminum shafts, monster fletching.
Many setups used today would have made a small chip and bounced off.

I shot one right between the eyes one time. My sight had moved causing my poi to be over a foot to the left. Got about 12” of penetration, broadhead lodged in the neck - short blood trail to a dead deer. Plan B? More like plan Z.

Saw a deadhead in Oregon in a General Store years ago, that had a broadhead like that embedded in the base of an antler, Monster bull (380 class) that apparently died of Winterkill/ old age.

It so interesting seeing pics like that.....
My buddy found a week old rage in the 6 point bull he shot this year.
I have another buddy that years ago was skinning out the skull of his mule deer buck and it had a BH embedded in its face that had been there for a long time.
One Big Arizona bull elk at the butcher shop in Springerville, AZ had 3 BH's on the meat table that the butcher had found in the bull- 2 were entirely gristled over.

One thing for sure, I bet that buck went crazy until that arrow shaft came off.

Beendare’s post needs to be dragged over to the wounding thread. Three broadheads in one elk !

Too bad it wasn't a mechanical, everyone knows they always open and leave large killing wounds.
