Paul's Euro Bull Moose
Moose
Contributors to this thread:
The final stage to Chance Encounter Colorado bull moose story. Finished Euro mount completed by Matt at Rock Mt. Head Hunters, , email at
[email protected] in the Laporte/Ft. Collins area. He does many, all antlered and horned species, from around the country.
PY minimum is 125 inch, Final dry out period will be Nov. 10th. This bull, Gross score 140 2/8 unofficial. Width was 39 inch. Palm width, 10 and12 inch, palm length 29 2/8 and 27 6/8 ( the double forked brow tines made the difference to make PY score of 125. Circumference of beam, 6 in. Approx. points per side, 7 and 8.
I cut the end off of an pine tree log, and mounted the skull to that. Now I have to figure out where to place it, in the house or garage.
Great looking Euro Paul!!
Great looking mount . WTG
Great mount Paul and congrats again on that bull!
It came out beautiful. Congrats again Paul.
Congratulations again Paul.
Fantastic--I vote for house! Scott
Did the taxi say what they used to stain the antlers? I killed 2 in velvet in NL and they are snow white.
My Co moose died in a creek and a bull I shot in British Columbia did the same
Dang, don't you hate that.....
Looks great Paul. Congratulations again!
A fine moose !! Congrats again!!
Bwhnt, I will ask him per the stain. Also, one can use dark coffee grounds as a stain. Look this up on Search, Antler stain using coffee grounds.
Beendare, yea and especially when you can float the moose parts back to the truck like I did.
Great looking Euro mount Paul! Congrats again!!!
Looks perfect. Well done Paul.
Great looking bull, Paul, quite an accomplishment for sure!! Congrats!
Going to bring lots of great memories every time you look up at it!
Looks awesome Paul!! I vote house also.
Wonderful job on the euro and bull
Looks great Paul. A real trophy. What do you mean, house or garage?? Who's in charge around there? :))
looks good paul! quick turnaround.
Congrats, great looking trophy.
Looks great, and congrats again
Very nice mount, Congrats!
If you have any room left, I’d say hang it in the house. Looks great Paul.
Running out of wall space BUT will plan on hanging number 10, the Desert Sheep, in the very near future. I hope.

OK, found a good spot in the man cave. Took down a big picture and replace it with the Euro mount. Fits the space very well. Good memories for sure. Thanks all for the positive replies. Until the next hunt. My best, Paul
Looks great where you hung it Paul! Thanks for including us on the final part of your hunt and congratulations again!
Turned out great. Congrats again. Can't wait to see the puppy in upcoming goose hunts.
Looks great where you put it, Paul! Congrats again!
Looks like you planned to have the euro mount there. Congrats again Paul!
The other walls of the man cave are filled. The Big Horn Sheep in on the living room wall, I guess I could put the Desert Sheep mount right next to it. :)
Looks good Paul, congrats again!
Looks great, Paul. And you now have the gift of corn pollen going for you in the desert draw.
Looks great on the wall!!
Matt always does a good job on euros. And since Paul didn’t want the plaque Matt originally put on this moose skull, I took it. ;)
Glad you can use the plaque for your cow moose as it did look good when I saw the bull skull attached. I chose and made my plaque from a large pine tree slab, and from the same area that I killed the bull moose. Sort of all tied the hunt and experience together. Glad you were also successful on your moose hunt.
Look real nice Paul
Congrats man,
Robb
Looks awesome Paul!!! Thanks again for taking us along for the ride!!! Beautiful bull!!!
Thanks Paul, another awesome year! A big congrats to a great example!
Looks great Paul I’m sure you’re proud stay safe and good luck in the future Lewis
Awesome stuff right there!
Congrats again Paul. I think you picked a great spot for your beautiful mount!
Looks great! Appreciate you showing us the euro and its place of honor in your man cave. Congratulations again!
As others have said, it looks great. Do you keep in touch with your new native friends? Bob
Bob, only their spirits are with me now but hope to visit with them in the future. Good medicine for sure. Paul
Looks great, and the Man Cave is awesome.
Looks great Paul!! Congrats once again.
Looks really great, Paul!!! And again congrats!!
Looks good Paul, and the pic of you and the moose in the water needs to be framed and hung on your wall.
Turned out awesome congrats
Looks amazing Paul. You must have a very, very big pot to boil that thing down! Congrats again on the awesome moose!
Thanks Will. My Tax use bugs, meat eaters, well fed, and then a degreaser solution, and then more work to get is just right. For the artist that did this, Contact Matt at www.rockymountainheadhunters.com and or,

Paul the Euro of your Moose turned out Great, and I love the picture of you with your Recurve and Moose in the Stream, as was noted you should have that framed. Best of luck on the Desert Sheep hunt, you know we will all be waiting. Good luck my Friend. Kurt
A very clean, well presented mount. Congrats !!!
Ok Paul, I see you already have the picture, it goes real well with the mount. Congrats again. Kurt
That looks great Paul! Congratulations
Very cool, thanks Paul for sharing... you deserve a cup of hot chocolate!
Scent, maybe with a shot of Maker's Mark in it? Actually I have a cup of HC on the deck right now. Good stuff on a cool morning. Wish I was standing in the duck decoys right now but no migrations yet.
I received an update per PY measuring the skull. The 60 day drying out period starts after any application of a liquid whiting agent is applied and not when the animal was shot. If no whiting agent was applied to the skull, then the drying period can start that day. So my PY 60 day drying out period will be on Nov. 18th.
Also, antler point count. Each countable point must be at least one inch in length and that one inch in length must be longer then the width of the point. Not a rounded off point. I had thought this bull's antlers was a 6x7, but now most likely a 4x4. Will he still make PY? I think so and around 130 plus. My best, Paul
Looks super cool. Congrats Paul.
Glad to see that you got your moose, huge congratulations! It was a pleasure meeting you on our flight to Denver! You turned an unpleasant flight with loud children and delays into a very nice experience getting to hear about all your hunting stories and specifically how long you’ve waited to do this! Full circle moment seeing your wall and the animals I was hearing about. I hope you have a happy holiday season and a happy new year!

Jacob, what a present surprise and good meeting you also. Yea, the chance of running out of plane fuel as we circled DIA, and then being diverted to Texas to put on more fuel, was interesting but all worked out. If you have not read the whole store, Chance Encounter Part 2. please do so. My best, to you and family. Paul
