What do you all think of the new shaft from Easton? I love the idea of a 5mm shaft that isn't a heavy log. Axis are great arrows but just too heavy for me in 300 spine. The new 5.0 is 8.4 gpi in 300 spine. I wouldn't mind it being a little heavier but I can build a nearly 450 gr arrow that will be spined properly for my setup. This is with Match Grade collars, 50 gr brass HIT, 3 Max Stealth and a 100gr point.

I am sure they won't be as durable as the Axis but I expect them to be durable enough. I have a dozen of the match grade shafts on (back)order and will build them out whenever I receive them.

I’m going to be getting them. I love that I will be able to drop to a 200 spine with them being a lighter GPI. Planning on around a 550 grain build.

Interested in trying them as well. But I'm pretty happy with my Black Eagles.

Corax, the 300 spine Axis are 10.7 gr/inch.

I want the new fmj max. Love my fmj’s now but having it in a lighter version is going to be great!

Thanks, Bullet. 10.7 is pretty stout by carbon standards, but feathery compared to Doug Fir in that spine class….

But it only saves about what, 65 grains?? I’ll have to see if I can dial in my next bow to where I can shift that much mass from the shaft to the point without exceeding about 530 gr total. If I could tune that, I’d probably try the BAMF Ace Super Express 200… just for the hell of it….

Also….I know these aren’t the only lighter GPI 5 mm shafts. I just liked the idea that they came with Match Grade collars. You can run HITs and collars on BE or RIP TKO but it is not a cheap “upgrade.”

They look good to me. I have what feels like 20 axis 5mm shafts from various batches I've bought over the years though... Hard to just jump ship. But, I would consider it. The idea that you can create more foc, without going heavy (full arrow weight) is pretty neat to me.

If I pull the trigger on a new bow, I may try these next year.
