Poachers. And we are surprised when these types of bucks end up in the news after a " harvest ". Money, make him pay.
Wow probably the biggest sentence I’ve seen for poaching.
Wow, reading through the court documents this guy was a real POS. You want to know what's wrong with all the monetization of hunting...read those documents.
Seems like I read somewhere, this POS sold the rack to a collector. Did ODNR end up getting the rack back?
Kind of funny he cannot buy a license for ten years, but he was hunting without one.
Such a shame. Unreal how he maintained his innocence long after his lies were unraveling. Obviously not a very smart guy in any sense.
What happened to the two brothers that helped?
$43,000 is a bunch of money, but IMO he should have to do more time. A year in jail might straighten him out.

Finally a sentence that fits the crime. Too bad the Bowmars won't be sitting in jail beside him.
Hopefully and I mean hopefully, this sentencing will speak volumes to any other individuals who have and or is thinking about doing the same thing.
Kudos to the officers and the Ohio DNR for their efforts and work.
Let’s hope that is true about being a deterrent. This is a high profile case that may get the attention of potential poachers. In reality though Ohio has had the restitution formula in place since 2008 for whitetail bucks. There have been a few cases where the penalty has been over 20k that were widely covered within the state. There are always gonna be a few knuckleheads that think they can get away with it.
I think this guy and the dude who killed the Hollywood buck in Va would likely have gotten away with it if they didn’t feel the need to stroke their egos via social media posts.
Makes you wonder what percentage of criminals sincerely believe that they are simply too smart to get caught….
Honestly, it would never occur to me that it’d be possible to poach an animal like that and not immediately get nailed on it. These bucks are not Bigfoot. People know where they live, and they have nice, sharp trail-cam footage to prove it.

I work in a prison. There are lots of jack wagons that think they can get away with crimes and didn’t.
The 10 year license suspension doesn't appear to mean anything. It sounds like, whenever he pays the fines, that penalty goes away, and if he doesn't, the revocation continues past 10 years

His license is gone for 10 years. If he does not pay his fines by then, they will continue to be suspended until he does pay them, which my guess is he never will.

Something tells me that poachers don't pay much attention to legal hunting "privileges." If they did...they wouldn't be poachers.

Pretty much a rhetorical question… I’m sure that guys who thought there was a good chance they’d be caught are rarer than the guys who aren’t Innocent…
