What is the best cell cam for t-mobile users? What else should I know before buying? How long do batteries typically last? I think I am going to invest in a couple so I can maximize my vacation days.

It doesn't matter what provider you use for your phone. The cell cam can use a completely different provider. It will send you the photos the same as if a buddy with a different provider can send you photos. Battery life is determined on how you set up your camera. Photos only, videos, how many times it's being triggered, how good the service is, sending photos immediately or once a day, etc. Lots of variables. Lithiums last the longest.

Midwest “hit the nail on the head”. Don’t be concerned what carrier you have BUT be sure carrier you choose gets good reception.

Rural King has a 2-pack of Moultrie Edge cams on sale for $99.99. They'll work on both Verizon and AT&T, and will choose whichever one has the strongest signal in the area you place the camera. You set them up through Moultrie's site, not the cell company, so as Midwest said your personal phone carrier is irrelevant.
Pat did a feature on them a year or two ago and liked them.

We have used multiple brands overed the last 5 years and for the cellular cameras, Tactacams have been far superior to other brands. We have 17 of them running on several properties, extremely user friendly for sorting photos on multiple cameras

If I buy them now, do I have to activate them right away? Or can I wait until I want to use them? For the tacticam, do you guys just use them for a few months and then cancel the plan? For me, I don’t have a need to keep them going all year. Hopefully these aren’t dumb questions.

You do not have to activate immediately.
They bill in monthly increments (no prorate I think) and you can suspend any or all cameras at any time and restart them whenever you want.

You can suspend during the months you aren't using them.

If you run them 12 months you’ll get a break on the plan per month but like most I choose to run them starting in summer until antlers start to drop.

With Tactacams;some are used as security cameras, run all year. The other are cancelled after "horns" are dropped.I always buy unlimited/yearly.They carry over when not used. They replaced one new camera under warranty,no questions asked.Good service.

You can switch carriers if you get better signal from one over the other.
