Anybody using the OnX research tools? I tried to log into TopRut today and it's been replaced by OnX research tools which I knew was coming. I have a few questions; for one when I open OnX on my phone there's no tab for the research tools and no easy way to get there.

Secondly, when I enter in all my points in various states and then close out of the page it doesn't save my points and I have to re-enter them all which is a pain.

Third, they apparently haven't updated the Arizona elk stats yet because it shows that I have 99% draw odds in every unit which I know isn't true. All the other states I checked are up to date and correct.

Anybody have any suggestions or input?

I called and bitched. It's a gawd awful mess, I hate it; missing WY special odds, sort by archery in WY and every hunt that allows a special archery license plus the type 9's show up. Can't sort by WY license type, public land, etc.

Toprut was just a plain jane odds site that worked 100% of the time and worked well. One click and you had sorted WY regular or special odds by ascending or descending order. Took 10 seconds to see what you could or couldn't draw.

My input is so far it appears they totally messed up something that was great.

No longer a consolidated spreadsheet form that’s easily sortable, no random draw odds, no special draw odds. Something tells me they just released the beta version on us and haven’t got it fully developed yet.

This version has been out for almost a year.

What WB said. Toprut was top notch until.....

So I guess it sounds like we're SOL unless we pay for GoHunt and use less accurate odds or research each state ourselves...

I used toprut for quick n dirty "what can I draw" look ups, the rest of the time I use the odds from the respective states. Another thing missing is the individual point pools that steve listed under the "more" link for each WY hunt. It doesn't do me any good to see 5 points was 100%, if I'm at 4 and there are more people in party apps above my 4 that will take all the tags the next year.

Something is screwed up.......every time I look up the odds of drawing an elk tag it says, "Snowballs chance in Hell"

Actually, so far thats been accurate- grin

I was going to switch from GAIA GPS to OnX, primarily for the research tools, since I used Top Rut before it got bought by OnX. Are you guys of the opinion I should stick with GAIA?

I just gave up Gaia for OnX (2 state version)

Still a Gaia user and no plans to change. (I used to subscribe to TopRut but did not bite when they were bought by OnX). Gaia works great as a hunting tool, but does nothing for draws or odds. Maybe OnX should have stayed in their lane.

I used Go Hunt for draw information for a few years then switched to Top Rut only since it was free and the odds were more accurate. Then Go Hunt and Top Rut got into an entertaining conflict online a few years ago and I’m pretty sure Go Hunt saw the light and adjusted whatever algorithms they were using and their odds got better so I’ve been using them and GAIA for the last few years. Was going to switch to OnX this year since GAIA got bought by Outside and they require an Outside account which didn’t make me happy, plus OnX seem to be headed in a more hunter friendly direction but if their research tools are jacked I think I’ll stick with GAIA and Go Hunt unless and until OnX gets their stuff together.
