Anyone want to try to guess how many elk are in the picture? Elk season is still open for antlerless elk. Winner gets squat tomorrow evening........Mike

Troy will be bang on, but he cheats. He just counts the legs, then gets his wife to divide by four.

Close, Rod. I count ears and tails, then she divides by 3. Less margin for error that way…

Are we going by how many elk are in the picture? Or your count of how many elk are in the picture ? The prize is just too consequential to not have the rules nailed down first.

My count of how many are in the picture. I blew the pic up until it was 2 computer screens wide, printed them, then counted and putting a tic mark on them, by the hundred. I went back and looked for missed ones and circled them and added them to the next hundred. A lot of the elk are calves laying down very close to each or in line with each other but I did the best I could given the constraints of my camera, the distance and me shaking like a dog shitting peach pits because of essential tremors. I did not count them going through a loading chute........Mike

T-bone....Many of these elk were in Area 38 in Sept. but this picture is of Area 37. Most of the bulls are not in the pic, as they are in bachelor groups. The "road" in the pic is actually a fire line from the Elk fire that burned the east face of the Bighorns in Sept and Oct. Will post a couple of pics when Susan is done with my biscuits and gravy. Damn, she is slow this morning......Mike

If they are anything like the elk I was glassing on Friday and Saturday, there's a fence somewhere out there that separates huntable and non-huntable land. They know which side of the fence to stay on. Except for the spikes and they weren't legal.

We tried twice to send the following pics but they never went. Biscuits and gravy are from scratch. First pic is from when the fire is at hairpin turn on Hiway 14 above Dayton, Wy. The Ponderosa pines are 40-50 ft tall for comparison of flames. Don't know why they shut the hiway down? Second pic is of south of Horshoe mtn. Fire went thru there we think Oct 5, with 50-60 mph winds. Burned over 30 miles of the east face of the Bighorn mtns. Pic of elk is between the photos but out on the flat.....Mike
