Was your biggest on camera?
Whitetail Deer

Was the largest white tail, you ever killed present on a trail camera picture that you saw before killing it.
You can just say yes or say no but for those that say yes also add the year that you killed the big boy
In this day and age of trail and cell cams, I don’t think there are many bucks that aren’t on at least someone’s cam.
No, but I have killed a few that were on camera. This is a picture of the buck I killed this year within seconds of me shooting him. He's about to paw at a scrape that is right in front of him.
Maybe that’s a factor as to why there are less now? Ya think?
Sorta? I don’t run trail cams but 3 days after killing, my neighbor showed me pics
Bowbender, here's the inverse twin of yours! Did you happen to measure yours?
No for me. I rarely see the biggest bucks that wander in front of my cameras.
No, she was before cell phones.
Yes, 2020 but no picture where I killed him. Killed him over a mile away as the crow flies and across a road from where I had all his pictures.
Yes, 174 1/8”.
Killed him this year and I had pictures of him the last 3 years. I shot him on 11/11 and I had not had pictures of him since 10/16, but I used the previous years pictures to set myself in an area that he eventually would show up in during the rut. I know of at least 4 other properties that were actively hunting him.
I only have one picture of my top 5, the smallest one of the top 5. I was running 3-5 cameras per year back then and was always mystified why I never was able to get a picture even though I was seeing em from the stand
Nope, didn’t have a camera then.
Yes, 2020. Had a couple years of pics, gross 163. Funny, I didn't know it was him that I killed until I sent the 'as he lay' pic to my brother. Happened too fast, just grabbed my bow and shot.
No. Not on my camera. After I killed my biggest recurve buck, a guy in MA sent me a pic of it. It was killed in CT.
Yes, only one photo ever, checking a scrape this past Halloween night. Arrowed the buck while chasing a doe at daybreak on November 3rd.
Later learned there were multiple trail cam photos of that buck showing up for years (mostly at night) on another farm... a few miles SE of the farm I hunt.
No.
I do not run trail cameras materially though. I have one out this year.
No but i later learned deer was on camera over 2 miles away.
Ask again when we're talking mule deer!
Yes, 2021. Had pics of him from the year before as well and the amount of antler he put on is still hard to believe.
No, just bought a camera last year, going back to no cameras.
No, but unknown to me he was on a camera my neighbor had. There was 16 pics of him in less than a week and this was the week I killed him. Nobody had looked at the camera to see the pics until after I got him. 14 point non typical 159 1/8'"
26 no 16 yes to this point
Yes, I saw him in pics the evening of 11/10/2019. I got him the next morning 7:00 am. It was the first time I had ever seen this particular buck on any of my cameras.
Yes 2009. Found the picture 2 days after I killed him. Old camera had a 4 second delay time!
Yes 2010. Small edge of urban 10 acre piece and was opening morning. With limited places to hunt I’d have been in that stand either way (eager college kid foaming at the mouth to hunt)… but my trail cam gave me extreme confidence I’d see him that evening too.
Largest buck, no. Killed him with a rifle before cameras were popular. My largest with a bow I did have on camera though
Yes, my 191 in Kansas was on cam for a week before I killed him. Same with my 187 is Saskatchewan.
No. For what it's worth, took a picture of him through binoculars scouting a beanfield in August. Killed him in November.
No but I have the pics of the biggest one on the property being killed by someone else. 2023 and 2024.
Yes. Iowa.
3 days before I killed him.
Not my biggest but a good one that I killed several years ago. At the time I did not use or even have a game camera. There was another guy hunting the property where I was hunting but he was supposed to be hunting a mile south of me. He had bait piles and camera's not far from my stand although he did not know where my stand was. I tried to work with him so we could both have a good hunt but he would have no part of that. So in desperation I talked to the landowner to see if he had another place I could hunt without interference. He was not happy that the other hunter was there without letting him know so he sent me to a new spot and made the other guy leave the area I had been hunting.
I really liked the spot I had been hunting so I decided to stay there and the next morning I had it all to myself. That morning a really good Buck came by close but I did not like the shot thru small saplings and he was moving faster than I wanted. So I passed and then tried to call him back after he got out a ways, which he would have none of but did look. He left headed west, that evening with just 20 minutes of shooting light left I could see a Buck working a scrape east of me but could not tell what he was until he came down my best trail at 9 yards. It was the same buck so I shot him.
I day or 2 later I was reading a Bowsite about trail camera pictures with pictures of bucks on it. One picture caught my interest, and I showed it to my friend who's house I was staying at. Asking him to look at the trees in the background and if he thought those were the trees by my stand. He tells me he had no idea but that the Buck in the picture was the one I just shot. Turns out the other hunter on that property had posted the picture.
No.
On more than one occasion, we’ve seen THE big buck, in person, skirting a bait site. Not one pic of him on the camera. He’s not willing to step in front of it, day or night - from sep to Xmas. Sometimes all the technology still doesn’t pay off.
Yes, and I had him at 42 yards broadside on opening day and let him walk. My son shot him in Ohio gun season. 210 3/8 gross
Yes
Yes
Lord, I hope not ! It was over forty years ago, I was drinking, and I don’t think anybody saw us.
Yes. Iowa.
3 days before I killed him.
Yes all of my highest scoring deer I had pictures Top 5 we’re taken 2007,2010,2015,2017 and 2024
No, I had never even hunted that place before.
No. I was not using many cameras if any, at the time. I had seen him work an area three times the previous year and was in place when he did it the next season.
I had the last 3 bucks I shot on camera before I shot them.
No. I did get three bucks on camera before I shot them. The average distance from the camera and where I shot them was 0.8miles
yes, 2024
Pretty rare anymore that we don't have a whole stack of trail camera pics of the bucks we shoot.
I said yes before but just found a pic.
