After a bunch of research, and fortunate timing on end of year sale, I purchased a Mega Mower X brush cutter for my JD317G Skid Steer. After a 6 week wait, I took delivery recently. Got down to the farm and made short work of expanding two of my existing plots. This thing is amazing! Cuts trees up to 10" and mulches up to 6" as well. Ive been working on cutting some big trees and opening up the canopy as well. This will make clear the mid story trees a breeze too.

Very nice and nice work!
The company I work for does a good bit of right of way mowing with similar set ups. I will offer a couple pieces of advice:
Check your blades for tightness daily.
Have a couple extra blades on hand and try not to hit any big goonies .
Thoroughly remove all cut vegetation from your machine that will collect in certain spots and lift your cab to clean out the cut vegetation from under it. Blow out your radiator with an air compressor and blow out your filters after a day of cutting.
The cut vegetation dries out really quickly and will turn your skid steer into a tinder box. We lost one a couple summers ago due to this very reason.
Be safe and happy mowing!

Great advice! I stopped multiple times to get debris off the top of mower and on the rear of my machine too. I need to look up under though, good suggestion! Occasionally it will run hot so ive really been keeping an eye on coolant and hydraulic fluid levels.

Pressurerized water extinguishers can save alot of equipment. We get alot of guys to carry on balers and swathers also. Nice thing is you can refill yourself

Thats good idea. I just have a regular dry extinguisher on it right now. Ill look into the pressurized water as well.

Nice machine! I'm currently on the hunt for a new skid steer and have really been looking at the Bobcat T770 machines. We have a smaller new holland now with several attachments, but need to get a good brush cutter.

Thinking of buying a mulching head for our Komatsu 88 mid size hoe. I might not have any brush left if I get one of those!!

Haha, its pretty addictive doing stuff without a doubt! My farm was select cut 18 years ago. I have a lot of mid story trees i would like to make disappear and replaced with understory browse and bedding. I have had to come to grips with reality, it cant happen all in one winter.

Nice!! I'm equipping our JCB track machine with a drum mulcher and a tree shear right now. Hoping to be able to get the window guarding installed soon and put it to work.

Oh yeah! That will be pretty awesome!! I couldnt justify that much, and I also dont have a high flow machine. Post pics of the results!!
