I'll get there Thursday afternoon, so will miss Shug's 3-D shoot. Hope to see you all there and thanks to Pat for the free beer!!!
Husker - You sure Pat didn't say, "Free Beer Tomorrow"...8^)
Should be a really fun week! Looking forward to it.
I’ll be there all week as well. Looking forward to it!
I’ll be there for my first ever convention. Have two animals that will be there as well
Planning on drinking Pat’s beer:)
Mark
Still a bit up in the air… Hopefully!
Will get there Friday morning
I'll be there for the entire show! Wouldn't miss it!
I wouldn't miss it either. Ed F
So the 3D shoot will take place on Thursday morning after the measurers breakfast.. I believe it’s $60 pricey yes but includes bus ride and lunch… There is a limit on the number of shooters (bus capacity) roughly 60
Looking forward to the convention! First time in a long time as an attendee and not an exhibitor!
Arrival Wednesday afternoon.
good cure for the winter blues and cabin fever
I’ll be thier for the whole time can’t wait!
Had such a great time at the last one !! trying to make it work!!!
Will get there Thursday afternoon
I look forward to seeing all of you there. As always, it will be a blast.
Wife and I get there Wed night. My In-Laws and new baby will be in tow as well.
I have my flights bought and paid for. Lots of talk here that the Canadian dollar may drop to 60 cents U.S. if tariffs come into effect. If that happens I may reconsider the cost of attending and cancel flights. Use the money to hunt elk and bears at home instead.
I will also be there for my first time. Super excited!!
Planning on attending....
Will definitely be there.
I’ll be there. My first time. Looking forward to it!
I’ll be there, not till Friday . Always waiting on iceman !
OK, update. Gonna be there with Jetahn. Flights set for Tuesday thru Sunday! Looking forward to seeing you all!
Mel Johnson has held the Typical Whitetail P&Y Record since 1965.

Enjoy yourself, it’s later than you think.
I’ll be there stirring the pot.
The Bowsite reception is Friday 2-4pm.
I expect everyone to be on their best behavior.
Jim, that's a pretty low bar!
Still up in the air for me. Would love to go but its a very busy time of year for me!
Come on, Justin……it’s time!
Git ‘er DUN, Justin! Would love to see you, the wife and Half Pint there! You can do it!
I’ll be there on Wednesday only. Wish I could stay longer but, have to cut the trip short.
I will be there for the whole convention, should be a fun time!
I am planning on being there
As far as the trophy animal display goes, all indications suggests it will be a record amount of trophies on display from the recording period. Tentatively, we have around 200 animals committed to be sent for panel!
Not going to make it this year. I will miss seeing ya'll.
Enjoy Phoenix. The last convention there was super fun.
"Tentatively, we have around 200 animals committed to be sent for panel!"
Dang, sounds like you guys are going to be busy...
I'll be flying in Wednesday morning.
Justin, we're relying on you to make it happen!
Matt, good to hear you'll be there. We'll all look forward to meeting you.
Alert! The danged hotel DOES NOT offer a shuttle. And it's 20 miles from the airport. That seems new and different
Bowonly - I saw that this week and was surprised and disappointed as well. Seems like a significant turnoff to me. I’ll Uber, not a deal breaker, but a drop of the ball IMO.

Wife told me there is some kind of train or something that will deliver you right to the hotel from the airport. Leave logistics of travel to your wife.
It's kind of in the fine print on the hotel website. I imagine there are people who are expecting a shuttle. So, I bet there are some folks who would really like to know some more about this train. Thanks, Bob
2 plus hours on train.
2 plus hours on train.
Yes Bob you can take the tram. 2 hours and 11 minutes.
Maybe ask on the plane into Phoenix if anyone is going to the P&Y Convention and car pool the Uber or taxi ride.
i get in Friday morning. Hope to find someone to share a ride with.
Ned, Lee and I get there Friday morning as well. I need to double check the time though
Didn't realize it would take that long. I guess I'm lucky in one respect, having a wife that's so cheap she will not spend money regardless of the cost in terms of time (comes from being a yooper). I'd spend the money for the towncar.
Looks like taking the tram sucks. Looks like you might have to transfer to a bus midway. Take uber or the towncar.
My flight lands around 9:30pm Tuesday if anyone wants to share a ride.
Bob don’t let her fool you… She’s spending it elsewhere..
Hey, thanks Charlie for posting the transportation info. I fly in at 6pm on Tuesday evening. I would like to share a ride with anyone or a group, but sorry Russ, I don't think I can wait around until 9:30pm! Maybe I'll wear my Be The Decoy deer hat in the airport. That should attract some bow hunter's attention!
bowonly: Consider bringing your elk call and throw a few calls out when you land….
Cool Jared text me and maybe we can coordinate together! Thanks!!
We get in Wednesday morning around 8am and have a rental vehicle if anyone gets in around the same time and would like a ride.
Shug: Wow, seat 30D. First class section usually isn’t that big.
I usually get upgraded Charlie!! I may even end up in the 23rd row
I get into Phoenix on Thursday at 3:50pm. If anyone else wants to share a ride, let me know.
The wife and I get in Wednesday night at 10:45 PM.
If anyone wants to split a ride let us know. Oh, and we will also have an 8 month old baby in a car seat, but he likes to party so it'll still be a good time.
Anybody getting in around 11:40 AM Thursday that wants to split a cab/UBER, whatever?
Had a bowsiter drop off some animals for panel.
Wednesday afternoon to Sunday night. First timer. Looking forward to it!
Looks like I’m getting there around 2:00 PM on Tuesday.
Save yourselves the headache and don't take the tram thing. I was just in Phoenix in January, take an Uber. So much easier and faster.
And be tha full its in Glendale and not downtown Phoenix ha.
Pope and Young should take into consideration shuttle availability at the next convention. Would be greatly appreciated.
Make sure you take the train in the airport. Save a lot of time walking around. Much easier to get to baggage and out the doors!
So, I live about 20 minutes from the convention center and wanted to answer a couple questions I see above.
Transportation: After you leave baggage claim at Sky Harbor, you'll step outside on the South side of Terminal 3 or 4. There is a long line of Ubers, taxis, etc. waiting for a fare right there. I think you can just go up to one and grab a ride. It's 23 miles from Sky Harbor to the hotel (all freeway). We have light rail but it doesn't go that far yet. Taking the bus is probably a 2+ hour adventure with multiple transfers and waiting at bus stops. I Googled "Shuttle from Sky Harbor" and found a number of Transporation companies.
Nearby Fun Stuff: Westgate is just north of the hotel (short walk). They have all the shopping, bars, restaurants you could want. Its hopping pretty good on Friday/Saturday nights. Google Westgate for more info. If you want a traditional mall, Arrowhead mall is a few miles north on the 101 freeway at Bell Rd/75th Ave with all kinds of restaurants everywhere around there. Bass Pro (Old Cabelas) is just north of Westgate (short walk).
If anyone has a question, post it here and I'll do my best to answer. Looking forward to meeting everyone at the meet and drink.
On Saturday, April 12 at 6:05pm, there is an arena football game between Arizona and San Antonio at Desert Diamond Arena, which is about a 2-minute walk from the hotel.
Thanks for the PSA, Chuckster!
Anyone else on the direct flight from Anchorage to Phoenix Wednesday, April 9, at 10:05pm arriving Phoenix at 4:38am ?
I guess everyone is afraid of Lisa.
Oh, I had the wrong day! We are getting in at 2:00PM on Wednesday instead of Tuesday. Let me know if anyone wants to share a ride. Will probably get an Uber.
Very useful info from Chuckster above.
If you’re a lifetime member, make sure you sign-up and attend the lifetime member breakfast. They’re drawing for a hunt during the breakfast and you must be present to win!
What’s the hunt? Also, how do Regular and Senior members get a Lifetime membership? I’ve looked all over the website and we cannot find the option/cost.
Nick, On the P&Y website click on shop, then click on page 2 and go to the bottom right.
Chuckster , so is that a definite on the uber that you dont have to prearrange an uber ride? That would be great
Nick: The drawn hunt will be a brown bear hunt with Peter Barela.
I talked to a buddy who uses Uber (I don't). He said Uber has a designated pick-up spot but I don't know where it is. The rides I mentioned earlier are actual taxis of various carriers waiting for a fare. I looked on the Uber website and I see a link to reserve a pickup at Sky Harbor. Sorry if I mislead.
Look at that. It appears I’ll be attending.

Looks like Pizzaman is in!
