Me and my daughter booked for week of June 2 and wife tagging along. My daughter is graduating high school and wanted to do a crossbow bear hunt instead of doing the "normal" beach thing most Southern kids do.

It'll be my second time up at Mike's bear hunting and we are all so excited. Any other Bowsiters venturing there this year?

A buddy from Indiana is going. I'm planning to go along for the ride, possibly video.

We booked the full 6 person camp with East to West, after going there last year. Can’t wait, should be a great hunt.

How was your experience Footshooter? We have the whole week of June 2-7 booked this year with Geraard.

Interested in hearing about your experience with east to west as well…we will be with Gerard week of May 26.

Last year was the first year Gerard took over the camp. I think it happened fairly late so there were only a few hunters and a couple weeks offered. I actually had been trying to get in at Mikes and saw the opening on one of his newsletters, and jumped on it immediately.

Gerard ran a great camp, lots of the equipment was from the Eagle Eye outfit that used to run the area. Well built wall tents with cots and stoves for heat, a shower with hot water, and a separate cook shack and tent for meals. He had Starlink setup last year for anyone worried about that. If my memory serves he opened about 16 of the bait sites (out of approximately 40 historical baits). Last year Gerard had 1 other guide helping (Ryan) and both of these guys are top notch. Had a great time while in camp, and saw lots of bears with some pretty good ones hitting the ground. This year I think the plan is for another guide to help, and all baits some have not been hunted since before COVID will be open.

Last year stands were ladder stands setup close to baits, with all of the judging tools setup similar to Mikes setups. I don’t think anyone could do wrong with either of these outfits.

My bear was the baby of the group at 5.5 years old, and my buddy took one that was 18.5 years old. Just got that info back a couple days ago.

Here’s the bears Gerard’s camp killed last year. Some amazing stats for his 8 hunters.
