Looking for a recommendation on a hunting chair. I will also use it for ice fishing. Light is good, but not critical. My friend has a 3 legged chair from Cabelas. He is always tipping in it, flipped completely over a few times. So, not sure if he is the problem or the chair? what do you guys think or have experienced with the 3 legged swivel chairs ?

I’m not a fan of the 3 legged chairs. They are tippy as you mentioned and worse, they aren’t comfortable to me. The triangular seat is hard on my wedding tackle.
I have a couple cheap folding stools from Walmart they were around 10-15 bucks and I think I got them on sale for half that. They have a little zipper pouch under the seat and a carrying strap. They are light and easily carried or packed. I’d like to find one similar with a small back rest.

I've purchased several swivel chairs to use in ground blinds. Walmart recently had the $50 Mossy Oak swivel blind chair on closeout for $35. 2 of the 4 legs adjust out, which works great if you are on uneven ground. I am happy with it so far, especially for the price.
Be advised that all fabric/metal swivel blind chairs can squeak when they get dusty. sometimes, really loud. You have to keep them free from dust as much as possible.

I use the Stealth Hunter from Alps Outdoorz. It is a swivel chair with four adjustable legs which is great for uneven terrain. It has no arm rest which I prefer, but they do make one with arm rests.

Even though the 3 legs chairs tip easier (if you are not careful) I prefer them as they are also easier to level on uneven ground. I have 2 each of 4 leg and 3 leg chairs, and Jim is spot on about keeping them free of dust etc to keep them quieter.

Well, you said weight wasn't critical. With the right hardware. just imagine replacing this with a La-Z-Boy recliner!

When weight is not an issue such as my base camp, I like the folding chairs from Rural King and other places that have the little side tables. I’m sure Amazon carries them too.

I also have a couple of these folding rocking chairs. Great for campfires and such. You might actually appreciate moving around a little bit when you are ice fishing. Be sure to get the ones where the legs sit flat on the ground and use the little shock absorbers for rocking.

I had a three legged chair/stool that was very uncomfortable for me. I bought a swivel bucket lid seat from Dick’s Sporting Goods. I put it on a 5 gallon bucket at home and painted the bucket camouflage that works really nice. Except it’s a little noisy going through the woods, sometimes rubbing against branches. But I think it would be great for ice fishing.

I keep looking also. My 3 legged seat gave out and I either need another one like it or something with a better seat but fold down like a 3 legged seat. I like how they fold down and I can strap to my pack and take off easy. So, I will probably get another 3 legged seat for hunting. Ice fishing, I move around too much so I just have a bucket with a seat or my flip over shack seat.

I like these. Light, portable, stable, comfortable and don't make my legs fall asleep.

Red Neck makes a very good blind chair, three adjustable legs, swivel seat, and a back rest. But it’s heavy. It is not at all a ball buster and pretty comfortable for long sets.

My 3 legged stool is not comfortable so I am in the mkt for a different one. I want a bigger foot on the leg so it does not push into soil.

Like Dale06 I use the Red Neck chair, heavy but when I antelope hunt it's from before light until dark, comfortable.

Of the several I own, the Millenium is by far the most comfortable.

I have a 4 legged Millenium swivel chair and I like it a lot, not the best for packing but doable.

I hunt hill country, SW Wis. Lots of trees, so the Millenium tree seat is great, light and very mobile. Their chair is nice but not mobile, made for a blind hunter.

I keep these in my ground blinds. Quiet and no arms to interfere with bow movement. I find they put me at the perfect height to shoot out of the blind (I'm just under 6'): https://www.cabelas.com/shop/en/blackout-comfort-max-360-original-blind-chair?storeId=10651&rrec=true&bvstate=pg:3/ct:r

I've had to sit in all types of chairs, stools and buckets during many of my bow hunts. I have found the most comfortable are those that offer a back and no side arms.

If you want a chair that's lightweight, the Cliq chair is comfortable, about 3 1/2 lbs ..depending on how high off the ground you prefer to sit. I plan on buying the Tcek chair next season..it swivels and weighs 5 lbs. If you don't care about weight or bulk there's a lot of chairs on the market that will work
