See ya in September,

Robb

I’m close to start using my wife and I points in most Utah species. Maybe 2026 or 2027 and spend the entire season on each tag. Non residents are fortunate to be able to accrue points in all species.

Good for you and her.

We, as ressy's can only do 1 LE species and only 1 OIL species. each application year.

Good luck, Robb

Yeah that stinks and is kind of backwards. Ill probably burn my Elk or deer points first. Most likely 2027. I have hunts in 25 and 26

For non-residents applying in Utah:

Question: In what order are the permits drawn?

Answer: A better understanding of the drawing order may inform which permits you decide to apply for. Big game permits are drawn in the following order:

First: buck deer (all limited-entry permits) Second: bull elk (all limited-entry permits) Third: buck pronghorn (all limited-entry permits) Fourth: once-in-a-lifetime permits (moose, bison, desert bighorn sheep, Rocky Mountain bighorn sheep, mountain goat)

Then, general-season buck deer permits drawn are in the following order: Fifth: lifetime license holders Sixth: Dedicated Hunter Program applications, which are 15% of the permit numbers for a unit Seventh: Youth applications. We allocate 20% of permits to hunters who are ages 17 and younger by July 31. If a youth applicant is unsuccessful in the youth round, their application will be evaluated in the next round. Eighth: General buck deer

Last: Draw-only youth any bull/hunter's choice elk

Keep in mind that because of the order in which permits are drawn, you will not be included in the drawing for a once-in-a-lifetime permit if you draw any type of limited-entry permit for buck deer, bull elk or buck pronghorn.

Thanks Rob! Still trying to figure out when and where to burn my Elk points in UT. I can draw one of the multi season units this year or next as I am not a fan of only having a few rut days.

Dang good Heads-Up post TreeWalker, very important for many.

Dan ~~ I did the Multi Season hunt on General OTC Any Bull hunt for a few years, it was a sweet gig.

Hunting Weapon restrictions from August into November by season dates.

I can only imagine how much fun it would be for an LE Bull tag.

Good luck, Robb

The link to Apply is now open.

Won't know the tag allocation numbers until May, but the Proposed tag numbers should be out mid-April.

Robb, does Utah take away your points if you do not apply for a number of years as some other states do? I don't see anything specifically in the regulations. Thanks for your help, Bob.

Of the top of my head, I can't remember, Bob.

With points being of such value, maybe best to call and ax them

Thanks Robb, I will call but I am guessing that they do not take them away for at least a few years of no applications.
