mainer to ky

Hey guys, I am heading to ky for a week and a half to stay with my wife's family. I will be doing some huntin and was hoping to get some insight from you all about huntin there this time of year. I will be trying Peabody and the sloughs. I expect to see good sign on edge of fields and such but if ky is anything like maine this sign is likely nighttime activity during or after gun season. I guess my question is how much does the gun hunting pressure affect the deer. Should I be trying to find the thickest stuff on the property and hope to catch them close to beds or might I have some luck in some open oak flats or field edge.
