Hoping to try spot and stalk this year on public land. Is Halsey NF worth my time or should I head west farther?

I'm looking for the same thing, I hear McKelvie or further towards the grasslands is best. I'm in Omaha, so it's a bit of a drive out there.

I was in the grasslands north of Crawford for antelope over labor day and seems the numbers are down. I was there 4 days and saw about 50 lope and zero whitetail or muleys

everything along toadstool road east and west sides from the south Dakota border to the south boundary of the grass lands.
I put about 20 miles on the boots over those 4 days and a lot of time behind the spotting scope

no I got as close as 160 yards to a bedded buck and a doe I did not see busted me. My hunt was cut short I had planned on being out there for 9 days but had to come back early
