With the firearms deer season entering its third week, preliminary tele-check data shows Virginia hunters are having a good season so far.
VDGIF Deer Project Coordinator, Matt Knox notes that the first weekend (November 14–15) numbers may have been higher if it were not for the high winds which were blowing across the state. Matt worked a CWD check station up in Frederick County and said the wind was blowing hard from sunrise to dusk on Saturday evening. Note this is just the electronic check and is therefore preliminary.
The 2015 October archery was up 2%, early muzzleloading was down 16%, and the opening weekend of firearms was up 32%. We’ll keep you posted throughout the season in TOR.
