Public land west of Twin Cities

Hey all, I live in Orono and am looking for public land or friendly landowners to hunt within 30 minutes of home. Does anyone have experience in this area or could shed some light on places to scout/try?

If you haven't checked already, I'd see about WMA's out that way for public land. Drive around and look for good looking "deer country" and stop and ask. Guess the worst that could happen is to be told no. Good luck!
