Advice for blacktail

I'm from Colorado and looking for advice for the 2017 archery season for blacktail. I've been to Oregon 4 times on guided hunts but never got a shot. looking for advice on how to hunt blacktail guided or not. Trying to finish a deer slam so average deer is just great. I am retired so time is no problem. Guide not necessary but figure better chance that way. Really appreciate any help. My wife says this is an expensive deer. THANKS IN ADVANCE BOB
