One hell of a story and I tip my hat to Frank for making a kill shot with his homemade bow. Credit for staying calm and actually knowing the law about being able to harvest an elk in Illinois, so long as it has no ear or neck band. Alot to process in a matter of seconds. Imagine walking up on that predawn in the woods. Damn! Thanks for the link.

From what I understand, maybe just heresay, but it likely wasn't just a hurried thought process. This elk was supposedly known to inhabit the area and several hunters were trying to kill it throughout the season.
I've been seeing a cow and calf on my drive to work. I believe them to be tame escapees, but surprised they are still on their feet.
