For those that may have known them, but have not yet heard, two senior members of the Record Book Committee for Bowhunting in Arizona Records passed away this weekend. Mark Vancas, former Chairman and Editor (on the BIA Records Committee since 1991) passed away late last week. He was an All American archer in college and a founder and the first President of the Arizona State Archery Association. He was the Editor of both the 4th and 5th Editions of Bowhunting in Arizona. He was also kind enough to take me bowhunting in Africa in 2008, which caused an addiction to the Dark Continent that I will likely never manage to kick!
Bill Crum retired from the Tucson Police Department after 37 years of service. He has served for years with various non-profit organizations having held various officer positions with southern Arizona chapters of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and National Wild Turkey Federation, in addition to serving on the Records Committee of BIA since 1994.
They will be greatly missed.
