What has happened to all the Utah hunters ? This has to be one of the slowest state forums on Bowsite. Some day I plan to hunt Utah and your posts and stories helped keep those dreams alive. So anybody got any stories or pictures from these past seasons ?

Have 14 pts now and will be 72 this fall so have given up on the unit I wanted. See what happens this year with new area.

I believe most of the Utah folks hang out on Monster Muleys and the Utah Wildlife Network.

Have ya thought about a CWMU with 2 Elk tags up for the draw?

Good luck, Robb

20 points here. San Juan, Beaver or Boulder? Let's hear your vote and reasons which you would go for. Thanks

If your a non-ressy then CWMU are not an option for ya all..... sorry.

TJ, I think you have them in pretty much the order that would be best......

Good luck, Robb

Thanks Robb. This years winter affect any of these herds?

Nah---they are mid state and south, snow but not the bitter cold like in the northern units.

You guys with double digit points keep in mind that to have them as valuable as they should be to apply for a unit with at least 2 tags offered.

That way your points may get you a Bonus Point pool tag . I would strongly suggest to not apply as a group, apply separately.....

Units with only 1 tag offered every one is in the mix for that 1 tag-----that sucks! ha

Good luck, Robb

True that HDE (if they offer 2 tags in 2017) dream unit for sure!

Thanks guys. You guys know or know anyone that knows the unit well? I've never hired a guide. But it is a dream tag. Can a 50 yo seasoned elk hunter figure it out on his own? I plan on taking at least 2 weeks for the hunt. Thanks guys!

Been bowhunting it for the past 4 years spike/cow. I know where I'd go... ;)

Shot a cow this year with a 350ish bull standing right behind her.

What time of year are the cow spike hunts I relation to the LE Bull hunt dates?

For archery, the same time. You get an extra week longer with the LE bull.

How many spike tags do they give out? or is it unlimited because its a general spike unit?

that elk IS a pig, Robb! Holy cow! thanks for sharing.

The spike tag is the General Archery hunter's choice. In LE units it's spike/cow. They are OTC tags.
