Winter Thoughts in Lemhi Zone

Hello everyone, My buddy and I have been looking at doing a backpack elk hunt for a couple years now and this year we are planning on finally pulling the trigger. Right now we are looking a the Lemhi Zone by Leadore. Any thoughts on the winter or tips/ideas on where to start? This will be my first trip for elk and my buddies second (MT 2015). Any help is greatly appreciated.
