Iowa zone 5 public hunting advice

I will be bow hunting Iowa zone 5 this year. Although I do have limited access to some private ground, I would like to explore some of the public land as well. Do any bowsiters have past experience in zone 5? Thank you for any advice you may have.

Have a great hunt! Zone 5 is the hardest zone to draw so you've got a great tag! C

Stephens State Forest has some EXCELLENT areas. If you know where you will be staying , call the county water conservation board, there is water easements that are county ground and legal to hunt. They are not well marked, but are not hard to figure out. Have a great hunt.
