I just switched my 85% mods on my Halon to 75% let off and am really having a hard time shooting it. The bow wants to jump out of my hand. Is the 80% let off rule something that is really enforced in Montana?

I don't know of a single person checked or charged regarding the % letoff rule. Another thought, I have never encountered a FWP Warden that has a scale to measure letoff and then to actually crunch the numbers to calculate the % of letoff for a particular bow in the field.

IMO, you don't have to worry about it.

A bunch of guys are buying the 90% let off models this year and you can "hold" for a very long time. A thirteen year old kid we go to church with bought the PSE model I believe and inside of a weekend was shooting paper plate groups at 70 yards. I'm going to write a book called "The Bow Hunter Next Door", ha

Funny enough, I did hear some conversation earlier this year among FWP people about carrying scales to measure let off and enforce the let off rules.
