Leaving in about an hour for Young starting my 23N bull elk hunt. Trip takes an hour to go the 20 mile. (rough road between the house and Young). Have talked to the outfitter and he has had a guide out there last week and he came up this week to scout. Seeing good bulls, but lots of busted points.
Wish me luck as this will be the last bull elk hunt for me. (72). I still will hunt, easier to get a cow tag, and I can get one of those out by myself.

Well, it is not the biggest bull ever, but is plenty big enough. 265 yd. shot at bedded bull. 30 yd. recovery.
354 gross.

Just got an email back from the F&G that the bull was 9 years old. They had me pull the two front bottom teeth and send them in. Sent them the measurements of the antlers and they track how they are doing in the "Trophy" units.
Probably should have waited another year, NOT.

Lv2hnt, He was really in poor shape. No fat at all. Really Skinny. Had several holes in his butt where he had been stabbed while fighting. While he had not broken off any major tines, there were several little ones that had been broken off. So he would have been an 8 X 9. Turned him into hamburger.
