This morning was a good hunt! Did some serious doe thinning in Fairfax. Started the season with a quad! Wahoo!
Congrats!! First Quad? I've had lots of doubles and a triple, but never a quad...That looks a lot of butchering. How long that take ya?
Thanks, guys! Brwndg, I can't recall taking a quad before. Anybody else putting them on the ground?
NICE Cold snap this morning!!! Unfortunately I had to work lol......Anyone get out this morning? If so, you see some good movement?
I wish but I did get 2 does and my buddy got a 7pt on Saturday morning. going to try and slip out of work for the afternoon.
Way to go, KK! I got another double the other day in Loudoun. Had a crack at a third but passed as it wasn't a perfect shot,
Mike, Mike, Mike !!!!!!!

You need to go back to the Archery Range. That bottom deer, your arrow was at least 1/16th of an inch too far back!
LOL !
Congrats Mike and KK. Hope to get out soon.
Are the deer putting on any fat so far?
The good Lord smiled on me tonight.
Mike,
I need to go to the archery range, too !
I was at least a whole inch off !!!!!
;^)
nice. I was able to get a small doe on Friday at a managed hunt in Loudoun county in the morning. almost was able to get her sister in the afternoon. using a x bow due to injuries. trying to get back to my bow but recovering from broken bones sucks.
I dropped the Deer off at Silver Ridge Farm, in Stafford County, for butchering.
I asked Mr. Silver again for permission to hunt the black deer on his farm, but he said no.
Photo of his black deer posted above.
LOL, Tony! Congrats, guys! Anyone else putting them down? Cooler weather is coming and they are getting frisky!
Not exactly a wall hanger, but a nice symmetrical 8 point. In retrospect, a nice 2 1/2 year old that I should have passed. But hey, it'd been too many months since I'd had mature antlers under the stand.
Congrats! Hoping this cold snap kicks things in gear and ramps up activity. Headed out after work so we shall see.
Nice. I would have launched an arrow at him too. I haven't killed a nice buck since 2011 or so. . .
. . .
Congrats again!
nice job. heading out this afternoon. then I am off until November 13.
Congrats! Forget retrospect...That's an awesome buck! Good luck, KK!! No bucks on my hunt this morning, but was fortunate and took 3 more does. Would post a pic but its pretty messy!
Bath GWNF from 2 wks ago.
Stickbender, that's awesome! Congrats!
BTW, its on! My cams show mature bucks on their feet now. Love the seeking phase!
Got a double yesterday. I am doing pretty good so far .taken 8 so far and like,Mike said it's on.
Dang KK, that's awesome! Beautiful buck...congrats!!
Been passing on a bunch of small bucks. Did get one more doe. Breaking out smoke pole for a bit for fun.

Congrats on the Does. Nice buck by your friend, too.
Our Team has had a good start to our season and this guy is the biggest so far.
Caught this one with his guard down chasing does this morning at 10:50.
Sweet, nice Buck, Mike.

Gonna try to get out again this weekend.
Got this big 7 on Wednesday in Fauquier county and 2 more does in Loudoun with smoke pole
Nice, kk.
I had two 6 points within 30 yards yesterday, but not within a shooting lane. Passed on the Does.
Saw good movement.
Thanks. Been seeing lots of little bucks chasing. Places I hunt are loaded with does.
Dang KK, another nice buck! Still doing a little doe patrol.
Nice. I am lucky to have a few good spots in Loco and Fauquier county.

Friday morning was a good morning. It's been a tough season getting out with a toddler and 6 month old. This guy was tailing a doe. From the moment I spotted him, to taking the shot, less than 10 seconds passed. It happened so fast! I got to track and recover with my father, which always makes the hunt that more special.
5 yard shot - no kidding !

I went on a Hound Bear Hunt in Virginia this week. . ..
.. ..
What a HOOT !!!!
I hunted Monday through Wednesday, and the Houndsmen treed bears each day. They got me within 5 yards of a treed bear, twice. I was carrying my Hoyt on the first one.
Both bears were smaller than the one I shot in Quebec back in 2011, so they got a pass.
These Houndsmen ( and Hounds-Ladies ) are the real deal - true Virginians, God fearing people, and run all over the Mountains with ease - all the while I was falling to the forest floor gasping for air. They were some of the nicest people I have ever met.
Anyway, I had a real hoot. I will try to post some video if I figure it out again.
Tony, we hunt them with hounds here in Shenandoah County, it's a blast. We put one in a tree just about every time we turned loose. The biggest being about 320lbs.
