Third week, what did you see?

Third annual 2-D Trad Bow hunt going on at Camp UBP. Chise, Ed, Nate, Dan and myself hunting the farm. Total of 7 does and one fork horn sighted this morning. A little fog on the pond, but nice morning. We all had naps and ready for the afternoon sit.

Had a great day of hunting Saturday, but no meat. Lots of deer sighted. Had a great time.
Saw 2 does this morning and 2 big 4 pointers in the evening. Around 45 degrees. Frost coming tonight.
Saw 3 different younger bucks running doe lastnight
Was 30 this morning- sure wish I was in a tree instead of staring at my pc! ;-)

Nothing again this a.m..but a few turkey.
I went stillhunting this morning on the game lands in an area I've never been to. It was quiet moving because the leaves were damp, and it helped that the frost was melting off the trees and dripping. About an hour in, I saw fresh tracks that appeared to be going the same way I was, and I was moving at a snail's pace nearing a grassy, swampy area when I caught movement. It was a mature buck, about 50 yards away. As I watched, a smaller one fed in between us. They just kind of browsed around there for a half hour or so, but there wasn't much cover and I couldn't get closer than 40 yards or so. At one point the little one faced me and rubbed a tree while the big one stood broadside behind him watching to make sure he was doing it right :^) Then they disappeared into the swamp together. It was a cool scene in the morning fog, and I consider such stillhunts a success when I see them but they don't see me. I should go back in there earlier tomorrow and hide in that grass somehow, but I probably won't.
Are you talking squirrels or deer, Jeff? ;-)

I was gonna say the 'tree rubbing' should have made it obvious, but I once had a buck fox squirrel I had just narrowly missed, come at me, face me, and rub his face and head on a tree trunk, and then on an old permanent treestand made out of 2x4's. He was mad. I think he was calling me out.
I was looking at your stand this morning Perry. Saw a doe and that was it. Got involved in cleaning rain gutters, cleaning up, then mowing inside the dog fence. Decided to have dinner with Kathy for a change. This being retired is rough.
Got busted going into my stand at 6:15 this morning. Fourth time this year out of eight hunts. They love waiting for me!

Saw a respectable 8 point buck destroy a bush and then went grunting and harassing some doe.

5 does this morning and one unknown deer this evening. Some good moon guide days that week Rut.

My buddy from church shot a BIG 8 pt last night. Big rack and big body! Said it gave a couple tending grunts as it followed a doe in.
I guess it is time to put the rattle bag and grunt tube in my fanny pack! ;-)
Made it out to unit 3c to hunt with my father for 2.5 days.
10/16: Saw 2 small bucks, a 4pt and a 6pt. Had once chance at the 6pt but passed as it was a 40yd shot hard-quartering toward me and looking at me. I was in a ground blind. 10/17: Had a black bear about 40yds away for about 15 minutes. I was sitting on the ground and thought it was cool until he started walking toward me. Had turkey all around me all day. 10/18: saw a couple does in the morning but nothing else.
This was the first year bow hunting with my father as he finally bought a crossbow to allow him to take advantage of the early season. He really loves rifle season but I convinced him to give archery season a shot. He really liked it and saw more deer than later in the season.
Didn't look like the bucks were chasing at all. I guess with the warm weather that is probably another week or two away.
Saw a buck pestering a couple does in the AM. Another buck in the PM. Found a new scrape in one of the usual places.
Saw a small buck that crossed a back country road walked along a field edge and right past one of my stands at 9:30 this morning. Sure was nice out.
Art- when are you gonna tie that big one to a tree for me? ;-)
Squirrel n dumplins on the stove now. Gonna take the boat out to Moraine to hunt em some more, eh, Monday probably. Gonna fire up the smoker tomorrow. Sure is nice outside!

Been out 11 times and have seen only 2 bucks. CWD in my area.
Try to post a pick tomorrow. Sent it today but it did not go thru. Plenty of deer here. Still 4 I would shoot.

Hunting in Black Moshanon SF. Saw 3 bear Friday evening. 3 does Sat am, 1 BB and one doe Sat pm. Had shots at 2 doe, but I've already filled my 4D tag. ;(
