Looks like he got hit by a car.. yotes got to his back end before I recovered him. Hunted for 3 days all day, saw plenty of does, not 1 buck. My last hunt, an hour before sunset he showed, moving at a steady pace he presented in my go to lane at 75-80yds, his back was facing me, quartered to the right. Hit him w a 30-6, dropped immediately and did not move. I remained in my stand for 10 minutes thinking the hunt was complete. That’s when out of no where the deer jumped up and ran toward a very large swamp. I couldn’t believe it, I backed out and waited until this morning to recover him. Easy find, traveled about 60yds. Shot placement entered in front of right shoulder, 3-4 inches higher than I would have liked.

Nice deer! I heard a story about a deer that was stunned and went right down at the shot. The legend is that the guy who shot it rested his gun across the antlers so he could pose for a picture when the buck suddenly came to and ran off with the gun.

Nice buck! I lost a good portion of a rifle shot 10 point to coyotes years ago that I had left overnight because of a bad hit. Like you, I have the rack!
