Everyone likes looking at pictures of big bucks. These are my two big bucks that I'm playing chess with this season. The dominant bucks of two different properties I have the privilege of hunting. I sufficiently filled the freezer early on in the season so I set my goals high this year. Everyone gets a pass except these two. I have been at it since Nov 13th. Two weeks of vacation hunting every day coming to an end on monday. 55 hours on stand so far in that time, not a single glimpse of either one yet, but I know I've been close a few times.
Last week was pretty eventful, I saw lots of deer, mostly bucks. I was very tempted to pull the trigger on a very impressive 8 point, but didn't have the best shot opportunity so I didn't press my luck. Kind of glad, because if he survives he may be number one next year. This week has been dead, nothing is really cooperating. I've been mostly lugging the rifle or muzzleloader around, but taking the bow sometimes when I'm sitting spots that will only offer a close shot. I'm not any elitist or convicted felon, so I've always said I'm not so much a bow hunter as I am a deer hunter. I'll be just as happy to take one of these bruisers with either gun or bow. These are big woods deer, no bait or food plots. A very difficult challenge even with a rifle. I'm fully prepared to fail, and I refuse to get discouraged. These animals don't achieve this stature without gaining my utmost respect. They know me just as well as I know them.
So three days left then I get back to reality. Thinking I'm going to focus more on the nine point because he keeps showing up on cams so I know he's not dead. The really big one has been a ghost, and I have heard shots nearby the property almost every time I hunt there, so I'm not sure if he is even still alive. Just going to try my best to enjoy the hunt and hope for the best.

Good luck grizzley!! We all know it's very hard to target one deer. I do the same every year. My success rate is very low...lol...but it's great to be on stand and just know that with every head turn he could be in site and headed your way!! Good luck to all out there. I'll be out all day tomorrow and Sunday morning.
Unfortunately I haven’t seen my big bucks in almost a month. I guess the rut has them moving. Before the rut I had them on cam multiple times. Good luck with your bucks guys
Great looking bucks. Nice long beams. I know the feeling of targeting mature bucks. I'm in year 4 of hunting my nemesis, can't stop thinking about him after a recent run on and daylight video. Mind if I add to the pon and share a clip?
Yes, that was my post on the main page Grizz. Super smart buck. I saw him twice from the stand in the past two weeks, but no true shot opportunity. I could have forced a shot on Nov14th, but I did the right thing and passed. Buck of a lifetime not worth wounding.

Finally got my 9 pointer today. Been after this buck all season. Not a bow kill, but I'm just as happy. It was a ten yard shot with the muzzleloader, he went about 150 yards on a double lung hit. Today is my 40th birthday, one I'll never forget. A gift from up above.
Grizz those are all different bucks no duplicates. Yes that last buck is amazing looks like someone else thought so too. He had wounds on his back from a high shot. Only bad part is he has never shown in daylight or even close to it.
