Only in Minnesota, someone shot a buck wearing a tag in both ears that say "Don't Miss". Locals knew about the deer from trail cam pics. DNR is not happy about it. See link.

I shot a doe with a cattle type ear tag on our land in Pierce county in the early 2000's. The DNR knew nothing about it. There was no info or writing on the tag. I could not see the tag from the stand

Is it possible that was done when the buck was a fawn? Maybe someone with a sense of humor happened upon it when it was young and would be easy to handle. I don't think many folks are walking around with tranq guns.

Saw a huge buck during archery season quite a few years back that had a tag on it's ear. Supposedly a local penned operation had lost some of it's residents at the time. Can't remember the details, but broken fence I believe. I would have attempted shooting it too if I had the right opportunity. Unfortunately, I saw him while I was walking back to the cabin for breakfast. Lol
