Two weeks ago on Saturday morning 18 degrees, not in my stand 15 minutes I hear footsteps 100 yds out. Cold and crunchy morning. Here he comes grunting away headed right to me. I let him pass me and at 12 yards stop him and let it fly. Donkey kick, short run and beds at 30 yds. Head is still up in 20 minutes. I decide to shoot again. Chest hit, buck gets up, walkes 5 steps and tips over. Done. He weighed 165lbs. I'm so thankful for this buck. 16 sits and it was the first opportunity to shoot. 5 different bucks on camera and he was at the top of the list. Sooo lucky! I'm going to keep trying for one more for the freezer. Persistence pays. Best of luck to all.

Tall1 Because of my height in tree, 20' and close range, the angle was a bit extreme. Therefore my shot really only damaged one lung severely. Right after the shot breathing was labored. He would lay his head down for a couple minutes, then try to get up but could not. That kept repeating. I knew he wouldn't last long but certainly didn't want to prolong the process.
