Figured it's getting boring on here so I found an old tag and was wondering what your oldest bow tag is.
I actually miss getting these in the mail and still think it's the way to go tagging Deer.
I would actually pay the extra $2.00 they cost to make to re implement them.

From 1988, first deer with a bow on state land. For the newer guys check out the season dates and it was 2 tags only. I saved the tag but regret not taking a photo of the deer.

Wow so it was only two tags?? I like that much more. I really don't see any reason why someone needs more than two deer per year. And it would help the areas with low population bounce back. Maybe issue tags by zones. Obviously zones 11 and 12 are higher in deer than nw CT. Just a thought.
By the way my oldest tag is 2016... lol

shawn - actually the NW corner was loaded with Deer back in the late 80's and early 90's. Of course there were very little Bobcats and Bears back then too.

I loved the green tags. Gave you a sense of pride when you tore it off, punched the date and put on your deer! This one is from my first deer at age 17....my sixth season with the bow. Big doe on state land.

Earliest deer license in my collection - 1967 First archery kill tag - 1973. I also have hunting licenses and tags from Washington, Wisconsin, Virginia, South Carolina, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, New York, Colorado, New Brunswick and Newfoundland. This thread became a trip down memory lane!

Anybody else save these metal leg seals? These are CT deer, CT turkey, NH deer seals and a Newfoundland Caribou seal. My guess is that some of you have never seen this method of checking of kill.

I've got one of the metal tags. I thought you only got those when you went to the check station during gun season. I have exactly one. Same year I shot my first deer I got another during state land shotgun. Thought gun was way too easy, not very exciting and I went bow only after that.

Holy cow Gene! I didn't realize anyone saved tags let alone that far back. Im not a saver so collecting things is not something I do.

I have a number of those metal leg tags scattered throughout. The state also used to issue you a certificate at the check station as well.

From: Gene
28-Jan-18
BBB I don't collect many things, only things related to hunting and fishing such as licenses, tags, drops, big racks, a few turkey and grouse tails etc. Beyond that, I am pretty much a minimalist. Oh yeah, there are 9 tackle boxes in my garage full of stuff. Anyone need some fishing gear for kids?

tom - new, young hunters shoot whatever walks by, and anyone who says differently either had a mentor at their hip on every hunt or is not being totally honest. My first doe weighed in at 101 lbs, but I was proud as hell to finally get one after 3 years of hard hunting.
