can anyone tell me about the areas west and south of big trails? I am looking at a DIY hunt on some of the blm land. Hows the terrain, and deer densitys. it would be a rifle hunt. Any advise would be appreiciated.

If you don't have access to private property in those two units like I do, I'd strongly advise that you look somewhere else. Everything west of hwy 434 going south out of TenSleep is private land along the river with just a little access as you go south after it turns to gravel and is maintained by the County as CR 82 down through the Orchard ranch at Mahagony Butte. West of the private land along 434 almost all the way over to Worland is called the "Badlands" because there is not much of anything out there but a few antelope and they are gradually moving closer and closer over to the private land along the Big Horn River. What little public land there is where you're talking about gets hit hard by people that look at a map and think there is enough BLM to have a good hunt. Consequently what few deer are on that land head for the huge pieces of private property owned by the Weeters and Lewtons and neither of those families allow any hunting. I would suggest if you want to hunt anywhere out on that side of the mountains that you look hard at Region R north of Ten Sleep that goes all the way to the Montana border and there is a ton of public land and all kinds of terrain with deer and elk.

thanks 30-06, problem is it looks like the draw is only about 30 percent chance for a non resident with no points.
