Unit 34 - Spring Bear

I haven't hunted in unit 34 before and I am looking for your honest feedback. The terrain and natural resources look superb for black bear, and elk. I've seen guides kill black bear but are always using horses to cover a lot of ground and handle the steep terrain easier. Also I am a little nervous since harvest report don't seem to be too impressive. I will be going the traditional route - hiking in and possibly setting up base camp. I'm considering areas near Bear Valley Creek or Frank Church River of no Return.

I use to hunt there a lot for elk. We use to see quite a few near the the Bernard mt area. Go in on little beaver trail. Problem will be of you can get in there for spring? I have never hunted spring. Good luck. Elkhntr44
