Monthly Rainfall Amounts for the Rim.
Arizona
Contributors to this thread:
I was requested to start a new thread on rainfall for the rim area. This only reflects the amount of water that hits my barn in Unit 23 North. I live in the vicinity of where the Chamberlain Trail and Colcord road intersect.
Last year from the end of the Monsoon until December there was .01 inch of rain. The new year started out much better as we have 6 inches of rain since Jan 1.
I will update this monthly until we get close to the monsoon, then it will be after every storm that blows thru.
Terry
Forest Lakes has a good weather station with updates also.

Nice! I like it! I also follow Forest Lakes Weather.
my daughter live over by whiteriver. She said that it has been raining since Saturday morning. Her mother and I will be out there in june. She is moving back to Pa. so she can finish her Masters.
Rained mostly all day from Forest Lakes to Heber yesterday. Real soaker.
Daughter said it finely stopped on Monday morning in whiteriver/canyon day.
Time, Date Temp are correct.

Back from Vacation. Had a little snow, gone the next day and a little rain. New total for the year. 6.06
Terry
No rain since the last update. Yearly total still at 6.06
Terry
And we already have forest fires burning homes! Gonna be a long summer.
Oh, that's a drop in the bucket. In the erie, pa. area, we got 198.8" for the year. An that's just snow.
Boris, its not even a drop in the bucket. that would be an improvement at this point. We are dry!!!
Had .31 today. A little sleet, a little snow, some hail, and even some rain. YTD total is now 6.37. Should help with the Tinder fire as it snowed much more on top of the rim, also much less wind than we have been having. The Smokey the Bear sign went from extreme fire danger to moderate. But alas it looks as if the storm has finished.
Terry
So for May a total of .31 inches. Smokey is at Extreme, and the forest is closed. All the spots that people usually camp at have yellow caution tape draped across the openings. Colcord Rd. Highway 260 junction has a caution tape and a sign stating entry by permit only. The month of May was extremely windy.
Have not seen any fawns or calves yet, but have seen a couple of bulls in velvet. The growth looks normal.

Thank you for the updates Terry. I have a 3A bow tag in my pocket and, luckily, the Point Guard in hand as an emergency chute. Hopefully it won't come down to that.
Halfway thru June, Bud dropped 1.07 YTD 7.63.
Terry
We had about .70" here in Lakeside.
Just a guess but I’d say we got close to an inch in Forest Lakes.
The month of June ended up with just one storm, Bud. YTD rainfall is still just 7.63. However on a brighter note, it looks as if the rains are headed our way, Western NM looks as if it is having some activity. July 4th is partially cloudy, Something I haven't seen since Bud.
Terry
Currently raining, will get back with totals when it finishes.
Terry
That’s great! Doing my rain dance.
AZBUGLER, you must be a terrible dancer as I only got .04. But the monsoon has started.

Terry:
We got .54" in Lakeside.....it's a start!
We got .1 today, but looking forward to tomorrow, when more is predicted.
Terry
.3 today, just over 8 inches ytd.
Terry
We got an additional .24" yesterday.
diddly squat down here in the valley, but it is clouding up.
Nice storm yesterday afternoon in rim country.
.93 inches today, for a short period the trout stream was running down the driveway.
Terry
We got smashed in the valley!.... My House in chandler survived.... Will find out tomorrow about the rest of the valley tho... Whew!
.serious wind!!!!
I got the wind in the North Valley, broke the tree across the street in half. But didn't hardly get a drop of rain. We didn't get anything from the hurricane a few weeks ago either. We haven't had rain here in 8-9 months I don't think.
Got a good soaking at the 83rd and Pinnacle Peak area last night, but tons or wind and dust. My pool resembled a cattle tank this morning. But, I'll take any rain we can get, even my desert plants were looking like veggie jerkey.
tore my place up last night. Roofs, trees, fences, etc. We did get some rain and looking at rain gauge totals through my hunting areas they did pretty good on rainfall. We certainly needed it.
Hammered in the east valley. I got it all yesterday. Wind, hail and heavy rain. The rolled roofing on my patio resembles a burrito now. Guess what I'm doing this weekend? Lol
Hell of a storm just rolled through Lakeside and Show Low. A Lot of water in a short time.
We got .33 inches today, none yesterday. Things are starting to green up. Tonto NF is going to open back up, but with restrictions.
Terry
.67" out of tonight's storm.
This all helps, but long-term is what we really need!
We about got drowned in Peoria last night, and my buddy in Tucson said the southern part of the state is getting lots too. Keep it coming!
4 nights in a row in chandler Nothing devastating... But 25 minutes or so of easy rain
.55" last night.....we've received almost 4" since July 5th at our property.....with more in the forecast!
Got some totals from last week at Forest Lakes. On 7-7: .39” and 7-8: .69”. Got dumped on Friday and This afternoon too.
The difference between last weekend and this weekend was night and day. Filled up almost every single tank! Nice to see.
YTD total 14.42
July total 6.8
July total is usually around 3 inches, and August the same. Hopefully August will be good to us too.
Was out looking for elk this evening and ran into a spike with about 3 foot spikes, so I don't think antler development was hurt by the lack of rain/snow this last winter. There was enough grass left over from the year before to get them to the green up this year. And green it is.
Terry
August started out with a bang. .31 today. The month of July only had 8 days where we did not have measurable rain. The first 4, and then isolated days during the month.
Terry
Good storm in Lskeside and Show Low right now!
Leaving for Alaska in the morning, so will give the totals for August so far. 20 inches ytd. 5.6 inches for August so far with 8 days to go. Betting on 6+ inches.
Will be back Mid Sept. will update figures then too.
Terry
Been one of the best monsoons in recent memory. Rain everywhere. Even the deserts are getting pounded. Going to make for some great December and January archery deer hunting!
Now if we can parlay a wet winter with this years monsoon, we'll be in great shape in the near future.
Looks like August was a little over 6 inches, Sept was a bust with .56 inches. October storm was 3.5 inches. Rainfall total for 2018, drumroll 25.1 inches so far.
Terry
Woke up this morning to 1/2 of white stuff all over the ground. More falling, but by 11:00 mostly melted and blue skies until the next band of rain hits.
Terry
Have 3" on the ground still at my place......nice early snowfall. Hope it's a sign of things to come this winter.
5" of snow today........muddy mess out there now. :)
With just a couple of days left in Oct and no rain in the forecast here are the totals. 6.57 and the ytd total 28.4 inches.
The wife had a cow tag and it looks like all the stock tanks are full. Temp streams are running, so if we get any kinda snow this winter it will be good for antlers next year.
If you all want more rain just forward me the money for my next construction project. When ever I start one it seems like it rains every day.
Terry
No rain in Nov until today. 1.3 inches and 29.7 for the year. That 1.3 included about 2 inches of snow which has melted off.
Terry
Sounds like you are getting some good rains. Only 15 inches in 2018 for NW Montana.
Christmas night snow started at 4:00 pm. Great Christmas present.
Terry
Nice. Thanks for the updates, I do appreciate it. Merry Christmas..
New Years Eve. Snow is falling and sticking. As this won't register on my rain gauge until it melts I will close out this thread with the year totals. We had a really good year as far as rainfall total, the monsoon was wonderful, and we have had good rainfall since the monsoon ended. DRUM ROLL, Year total was 31.51.
Normal rainfall is around 22 inches a year, so we did good.
Terry
Good news and thanks for the updates.
That is good news, Thanks for the update!
Good Luck on your trips, be safe and have a blessed 2019!
