Problem is writer the state has zero idea on acres burned. It simply a product of the reporting system. We are lightyears behind everyone else in wildfire preparedness and response, however we are trying to catch up.

My friend that owns a ranch on the Cimmarron said the fire came within 15 miles of his place. Scary stuff considering some of those fires last year went 50 mph and he lives in a big log house. Butler County lost a fire truck yesterday but thankfully both occupants made it out alive

Was in Tribune, Leoti, and then Lakin today and they had fires S of there yesterday too...supposed to rain out here the next two days, fingers crossed

Burnt a friends family farm down in SW Kansas 75 square miles were burned. Stanton/Morton county with some in Colorado. The rain has been nice.

Hopefully we get some moisture this week. Less than a half inch around here.
