I'll be otc archery hunting in Colorado september 2019. I know I'm a ways out, but I'm the kind of guy that plans important trips way ahead of time, only to reassess as time gets closer (military).. I'm looking at units 53, 74, and 14. I know the terrain is steep, but I'm in good shape and will be training a ton. I'm looking for advice from guys who have hunted or have experience with those units. I'm not looking for a huge bull, but would like to at least see elk if for nothing else but to learn for future hunts. So, if you were to hunt these units, which would it be? Thanks, - Baxter

Thank you for your service. I hunted unit 74 3 times with my bow, killed one cow, one 4x5 bull, and a nice 5x5 bull. I accessed the area at Durango mountain ski resort. I always bivouac hunt for 5 days at a time because it allows me to hunt further in. My advice, get in a couple miles, stay up high and be patient. I looked for the steepest country I could fine to avoid others, worked great.
