I forgot my hen calls so I used my mouth and a gobble call. Got the birds out of the woods but they hung up about 80 yds out. They seemed to try to bluff my full strut decoy and then chased 3 jakes out of the way. turkeys always seem to be intimidated by this decoy.

Thanks! Beautiful sunset behind the blind. Awesome evening listening to the turkeys gobble at a pack of coyotes and listening to the crickets and quail as the sun fades.

More deer came into the field and the big Tom made like he was going to roost. He and the other Tom ushered the hens toward a giant cottonwood. After the hens flew up, the toms and jakes ran back across the field to strut at some more deer. After this, they all went back to the other side and roosted at 8:27 PM.

I collected my gear and tried to sneak to the truck under cover of cedars, but one of the toms saw me a freaked out. I could hear him crashing to the lower branches and putting. That's what I get for wearing blue jeans and a flannel shirt to hunt in I guess. There was a bat catching bugs in the moonlight as I walked into the woods. He is the black streak above the moon

Thanks! I tried a sneak on them right before the storm hit. Got within 30 yards using my creek bed but spooked them when I stood up behind the creek bank to take the shot. I would have got one if I had my shotgun ??

I measured these sheds for a friend last night. Assuming he was 21" he'd score 168" without adding the missing brow tine.

Got to my friend's house late in the evening and he told me to go find a roost because dinner was in an hour. At sunset all I heard were two gobblers half a mile west. The next morning I was out the door at 0550. On my way across the sage filled pasture, I encountered a ravine filled with plum thickets. The 4 wheeler was stuck and I could hear turkeys gobbling half a mile down by the river so I bailed and headed off on foot.

It was pretty light by the time I got to the river and I could see the turkeys roosted in a dead cottonwood across the fence on a ranch owned by the Yeti cooler company. There was also a blue heron roosted with them.

There were two gobblers and one flew to my side of the river gobbling very frequently. Long story short, I called him into 15 feet and he came in running. I only had time to throw my pack down and my decoy on top of it which he didn't like. The brush was so thick, I caught a glimpse of his head and then he was flying. Despite not getting him, it was a very rewarding experience.

This part of the prairie has dozens of species of birds. It seemed to be a spawning ground for all the mourning doves in the country.
