Notme where's your pics holding some stripers. I know your big into that fishing to. Also how do you know when and where there running? I go to bluff point and there's quite a few people who striper fish but I never see anybody catch anything. I've only seen them pulled out at the harbor in Norwich.

From: Notme

Dude, im not much into the picture thing...i only fish at night so you wont see me...watch for the river herring and as the indians used to watch for when the monarch butterfly arrives..or the cinder worm hatch. ..or the bunker...

From: bigbuckbob

Why not watch for when the stripers arrive? Who wants to catch butterflies?

Shawn, Stripers are better at night.

From: Notme

I prefer working from slack to down tide..check out areas during the day on a dead low or even better an apage tide..look at sandbars and rock piles...then you gotta figure the currents...then you gotta figure what baits are running...then you figure what bait for what current...OYE!!!

Or you can cut off a bunkers head, #8 circle hook through the nose on a fish finder rig and hope for the best ...

And then you gotta decide what beer goes best in cool weather and what goes best in hot weather.

Notme top water is my favorite fishing. It would be my dream to head south and catch some peacock bass.. love the way they jump and smash the bait. The biggest bass I've ever caught i was using a top water frog on some Lily's. 6 lb bass. I'm also a huge fan of power bait rubber worms and zoom lizards. I have had great success with both. Especially the pumpkin seed and tequila sunrise 7" worms.

From: Bigbuckbob
04-Jun-18
I always liked rubber worms for largemouth bass, but poppers and jitterbugs were also fun for top water fishing.

From: spike78
04-Jun-18
Shawn take a lizard and put it on a worm hook with no weights on it. Make sure to bury the hook point into the lizard and take that sucker and cast on the lily pads and just twitch it through slow. It fricken hammers the bass. Also good for swimming it on top in open water.

Not me - We went to the north Shore on Thursday, did real good again. both Port Jeff and Wading River. Kept our share of keepers to 24 1/2 inch- which are the size of the ones in the picture. Many more shorts over there and of course Sea Robins. I tag the shorts so I do not mind them Bigbuckbob- No charter just some friends going on the boat, couple of really good trips lately. Let's hope we can stay with them. Great to eat!

Nice fish everyone! I have never fished for stripper but want to find a charter or party boat.. is a party boat even done for stripper?? Anyway I want to only go after stripper, and be able to hook into a few keepers. Other than regular bass poles and gear, I don't have gear for stripper. Wouldn't even know where to begin so that would need to be supplied by who I go with. Any suggestions who i can contact to get out on a boat this weekend or next for 2-3 people? Any suggestions would really be helpfull, thank you

Shadow- The Blackhawk party boat has special trips for Stripers in Connecticut, they are a good boat and they also can supply poles and tackle. See the website. The special trips must have reservations.

From: Shadow

deerstalker, thankyou. Seems like a good boat to go after stripped bass. They taget stripped bass on certain trips, only take up to 20 people and supply the gear. I'll be booking. Thanks again

Lake Champlain = pike while fishing in Campbell's Bay. Used to stay at the camp ground and drink too much beer at night. Motorcycle gang rode in one night and the leader was "Chuckie". I know that because everyone kept yelling that Chuckie is going to kick your ass if you do that, or don't do this. Never did see Chuckie. Didn't get any sleep that night, but at least they left early the next morning.
