The San Juan National Forest, in SW CO is being shut down today for the first time in its 113 year existence. We have some friends that live in Silverton and depend heavily on tourism this time of year, they are going to take a tremendous hit this year. On the positive side, some old forest will be getting a reboot it appears, with the fires roaring.

Praying for the firefighters, I can't imagine what they're in the middle of, a lot of the timber has been dead for several years from the pine borer infestation, those fires are being even more fueled by that I would think.

I saw that I was wondering if this would cancel the Hardrock 100 Run. Silverton 4th of July is supposed to be pretty cool.

Hoping those firefighters stay safe.

Spring Creek Fire poised to surpass the Hayman Fire as Colorado’s largest. All these fires flashes me back to 2002
