Between Middlebury and eastern Pennsylvania, today I counted ten roadkill deer. Nine were on the west bound side and one was on the east bound side. Then there were the huge blood stains at locations other than where I saw the carcasses, and three times the dead critter smell wafted through the truck.
Also, in the afternoon deer and fawn were seen in among houses and along the edges of the roads several times. We arrived back home in Connecticut at about 9:30 when my wife spotted the moon in crescent phase, just above the western horizon. And then it occurred to me that all afternoon the moon was overhead, therefore, of course the deer were on their feet and moving.

On our way to Champlain on Friday we saw deer out between 11 & 1 between CT and VT.
