I know many of you on here don't care for out of state hunters, but I am one. I drew into unit 68/681/ Archery Mule deer. I am looking for a good place to camp, fish, and have a chance to see some deer. I haven't been to Colorado in years which was always the northwest part, but have been wanting to return for years, so here I come. I have been, and still am, what some call a traditional bow hunter for over 40 years now, so I am not a beginner. I have some intel on unit 681 but am also interested in unit 68. I am 60 years old and am in decent shape but will be on my own, solo hunting. I will not encroach or invade your hunting area and I will respect your best spots, but I'm not going to blow smoke up your butt, I am looking for any good intel I can get. I have poured over the maps and have a few places in mind, but since I do not live there, they are only somewhat educated guesses. I have talked to the local warden in the areas but he is a new guy himself to the areas, so he wasn't really helpful. I will be hunting from camp on foot, no ATV, just walking, glassing, and hopefully stalking. If you are ever thought of hunting or fishing in Oklahoma I would happily return your generosity with my own. Stop by camp, once I determine where it is, and we'll have an adult beverage and share stories. Thank You!

It's not so much "out of staters" as guys that ask for those "great spots". And even then, it's more the guys who respond with specific spots, on an open (to the world) forum. That's one of the few places in Colorado I haven't spent much time, so I can't help much there. The past couple days of Monsoons have really started getting my huntin blood boiling. I'm pretty sure you'll have a good time. PM me if you might consider a slightly different SW Colo locale - my long time hunting partner is still waffling about going this year. In any event - Best of luck.

Jack, that's a straight up request. Wish I could help. Maybe this forum will shed some light.

Jack I’ve hunted 68 on and off the last 10 years. Got my last bull there. I like Carnero pass on rd 41g and anything west of there. Terrain can be rough in some spots. But like you I’m 61and had a few set backs. Phisically wife says I’m to stubborn to give up what I love.(hunting with my sons). Plenty of places to camp. Me I rented the Carnero gaurd station cabin. Will be there last 8 days of the season Good luck Lane
