I just got back from spending 3 days in unit 15. I'm not going to give specifics on where I went so don't bother to ask. I'll say the other Jim and I put up 7 trail cameras, looked at dozens of water sources and spent time in the north, west and east parts of the unit. Very small areas have had a lot of rain. I had to drive off of the road for a couple of miles because water was running down the 2 tracks a foot deep. A mile later I was kicking up dust. Things are really greening up. Most tanks are still probably less than half full but most do have some water. The few that I looked at that are dry are almost always dry so I wasn't surprised. Overall, things looked good and it should be a better than average hunting year. I think the population is on the rise. We only saw one good bull but we didn't spend much time looking for elk. We just looked at our favorite spots. Good luck to all of you who were lucky enough to get a tag.
