Hello To All: I am fairly new to the forum and leased some property north of Waldo Kansas. The farm is currently planted in Milo and Corn. I know corn is the King although my question is, will the deer leave the corn at any point and focus on Milo? Have any of you ever hunted north of Waldo or south of Osborne?

Where I hunt in Kansas it is a toss up. I have been there while they are harvesting both and just as many deer seem to come out of the milo as they do the corn. Its nice to hunt after the crops are in, otherwise the hunting can be tough. Easy to hide in a few hundred acres of uncut corn or Milo. Shawn

We haven’t raised Milo in several years, but I planted it in a few food plots since then.
My observations from farming... great cover for bucks. Some of the biggest bucks I ever ran out of a field were along a hedgerow while cutting milo.
As a food source... deer love it, I believe a little more so when it’s still a little green.

I have not checked trail cameras since early July although most of the volume of photos that I had were deer moving through pinch points in the Milo. This area is new to us so I am getting pretty excited about opening morning. My 10 year old daughter is actually bow hunting this year for the first time so that adds to the excitement!

I think you're seeing more deer in the milo now as deer tend to use the milo more when unpressured. They will use the corn for cover/food much more when they get pressured. I think they prefer milo but if there's pressure they will stay in the corn.
I know some will dispute. Just my uneducated, dumb, non-resident observations. FYI. We have corn and Milo just across the border here in CO.

We went this weekend and gathered trail camera cards. We have 3 bucks that will be on this years hit list. I will post a few of them when I get caught up. Interestingly enough, most of the deer are working the milo at this time. Although the corn looks really good it appears they have not moved into the corn as of yet. Only a few more weeks away!
