I must be living right. My dad, brother and I all tagged out on our "B" list cow tags. We've done well on the opener before but never managed 100%. And the best part was I had my pint-sized calling crew with me for all the action, pretty happy dad right now!!

That's awesome Dirty D, those are some of the best memories ever, and enjoy it while you can, because they soon become teenagers and other things take over their interests.

Those that remember the Paul Newman movie, "Cool Hand Luke" can relate to spending time in the box to kill a pronghorn. It sucks up to the minute a buck comes into range and you make the shot.

Drove back up the next AM to get the meat and head, pic of me and Scott.
Had a great time in 76 chasing moose, got this nice one (~48") on day 6 PM. Met a lot of nice and helpful folks. I wish this was me in the top photo, but it is Scott from Alamosa, who is a whole lot younger and better looking. He helped me cut up the moose and hauled out most of it! More details later.

7 x 7 bull in a CO OTC unit taken at 30 yards on magic Monday, September 17, 2018, with 70 lbs Bear BR33 compound bow launching 515 grain FMJ arrows tipped with 125 grain slick trick BH. The bull ran 60 yards before it expired due to double lung shot. I covered 1000 yards in about 15 minutes to get in shooting position. My first elk hunt and my first elk bull. I walked a little over 60 miles in 10 days. The pack out was 5 trips of 4 miles round trip, for a total of 20 miles.

Best day ever for elk hunting in my 51 years of chasing them. Bulls were bugling all day. There were spikes all the way to a couple six points. Several bulls came by in range, but none offered me a shot. I had a four point come in, head on, so close that I could have touched his nose! I was hoping to get a calf, and the Goddess of the hunt smiled on me. Mid afternoon, a 20 yard, standing, broadside shot, 60 yards recovery. I quartered her up, strapped her to the frame I always wear while hunting, and made one, long, hard, steep, mile and a half trek out. At 64, I can tell you, my body is not happy with that kind of abuse, but fresh tenderloins appeased her!
