Sooo the season is just about upon us for many. NH, CT, and RI all open this weekend I believe. Looking a little hot, will be interesting to see what the remnants from this hurricane do too. So whos going out and what is your game plan?? Its all I can think about right now.
I'll be going out in NH this sunday afternoon for my first sit. Going to be entirely dictated by weather and wind. I might even just do more of an observation sit if the weather is going to be hot and humid. I think I am sticking to only mature bucks for the first couple weeks except for when my buddy comes up on the 21st where i'll take him to my doe killing spots. Going to play it by ear and stay mobile as usual. Got a lot more options this year which is good. With all the wet weather, I wont be sitting as much water as I did last year.
We will be hunting CT Sat pm. This is a farm and a management hunt so any deer will be taken. It’s a great setup. I have never hunted there where I didn’t see deer. Good luck
Also early season"expanded archery" on coast in ME. Hope to try at my nephews if I have time. Good luck BWB and BC.
Yes, I forgot about Maine. Good luck to everyone heading out, and BE SAFE most importantly.
Was going to hunt CT but I’m so damn close to getting a bear that I can’t give up now. I will only have two weekends left after bear season and I can use those to hang stands for MA.
I'm going out Sat and Sun in NH zone L. Got an extra doe tag. Planning on using my new Summit climber and being mobile.
Good luck everyone!
Good luck and hunt safe everyone. Conservation goose season for me !
Pittsburg NH (Sat - Tues) mostly fishing and a late summer getaway but will spend a few hours on stand. Tekoa
Assuming things stay lined up, Ill be in a tree in CT Saturday afternoon, on state land about 1 mile in on the edge of a ledge, hemlock forest and laurel crowded hardwoods. I'm risking so so wind. It's one of those "they come from everywhere, at nearly the same frequency" sort of spots... though the most common direction, if there is one, is from the south. Any legal deer is the target, though this stand has lead to my missing a few bucks (2x) I'm sad to say, and seeing a few absolute beasts.
My wives schedule this fall was looking ok, but her clinical's for school (She's an NP, and works with folks 13-death, she's adding the pediatric part so her work options and $$ increase... and it's looking like this will be the least I've hunted, maybe since we had kids. So any day I can go, Ill go... unless it's just pouring rain. I'm going to have to do some of the 10-2 sits when the kids are at school with conviction this fall...
This Saturday, she's on call for work, so if she has to go in, I wont get out. Fingers crossed...
Have fun and be safe everyone!
Good luck guys. I might sneak out for a Rhody zone 1 afternoon, but that is family dependant.
NO NO NO, there is no deer season this year in ct..didn't you guys hear? the libs had hundreds no thousand of volunteers dress up as deer and lay down by the side of the road..then they went to the government claiming all the deer in ct are dead, morta, xxx's in the eyes!!!..the government then proclaimed from this day forth to the next, there shall be no season on deer...a sad day indeed!!!
GL to all coming down!!!..deep is out in full force
